Introduction

Count me in the camp of satisfied, happy fans with the ending of the Game of Thrones. It's not how I might have ended it, but it's not my show, and rewatching the previous seasons after the finale, I can say it did make sense and was foreshadowed in lots and lots of ways.

Thankfully, the end of the show doesn't mean the end of ThreeZero's sixth scale line based upon it.  The latest release is the evil (or misunderstood? No, evil) Cersei, whose personal designs for the throne drove much of the show.

She just started shipping, and will run you around $180 depending on the retailer. Unlike some of their releases, there's no special version or edition this time.

Packaging - ***
The box has the embossed lion, as well as the gold foil logo. Inside, the figure has a rather unique packing set up, with special plastic trays around the legs to separate them from the stiff dress. But it's all still very collector friendly, and you shouldn't have any issue returning her to the box for storage or sale at some later date.

Sculpting - ***1/2
I was unimpressed by this sculpt in the early prototype photos. The work looked too harsh, too angular, too old, and not as accurate as I'd hoped. I'm happy to report the final production version is much better, although I think a lot of that is due to changes to the paint application between prototype and production.

ThreeZero has been improving with their sculpts on this series for quite awhile now, and their last release - the White Walker - was outstanding. It's great to see the trend continue here, and while photos have trouble doing her justice, in hand she's quite accurate to the character and actress.

She's also very realistic, another improvement for them. The hair is nicely stranded, and there's a subtle skin texture. This isn't quite the spooky realism of something like the recent Hot Toys Shuri, but it's still a damn fine job.

She has a slightly pinched expression, which fit her general mood. From certain angles she looks pissed - from others, bemused. She was definitely a dangerous person to be around. However, that means the look works perfectly in multiple situations, and adds to the accuracy of the appearance.

The hands are sculpted with the rings in place, and she has a bit more height than most female figures, as it should be. She comes in right about 12" tall.

Paint - ***
While the score here is only slightly above average, it is the improvements to the paint application between prototype and production that I believe make this a better release. The skin tone is less harsh, less aged, with a subtle freckling that adds realism. The eyes are clean and straight, the hair line is reasonable if a bit sloppy, and the makeup isn't overpowering. I don't love the black lip line of course, and the hair color and wipe aren't really working for me, but overall I'm happy with the quality of the application.

Articulation - *1/2
I have one big issue with this figure, and it affects several categories, with Articulation being the first place it rears it's ugly head. It's the dress.

I'll get into the problems with the stiff, hard, non-stretchy material in the Outfit section as well, but it has a huge effect here. The arms are barely usable, and while the wrists are fine, the shoulders and elbows are deeply restricted. You can get some bend out of the elbows but I'm concerned that the stiff material is going to crackle and break over time, worse than any rubber skin.

Of course, that means any torso movement is negated as well. You can get some tilt and lean out of the head, but even that was less than I expected.  The legs underneath the skirt are fine of course, but you can't actually see them - the boots are cool and I wanted to get a photo of them, but I couldn't come up with a way to do it without potentially damaging the dress. You can't get deep stances, but you can adjust the hips, knees and ankles for shallow stances easily.

Still, this is one of the most Nerd Hummel sixth scale figures I've seen in quite awhile.

Accessories - **
A big plus with the ThreeZero series is the price point. These figures are well below the cost of figures from companies like Hot Toys and even Star Ace.

That does mean they have to find ways to cut corners. With Cersei, it's in the Accessories department. She comes with one extra set of hands, in a wide grip pose. However, there's nothing for these hands to grip. They'd be perfect for holding a book or a goblet. They swap easily, and they did throw in a couple extra wrist pegs just in case.

Her only other extra is her crown. The sculpt is excellent, and it is made from die cast metal, so they get some extra credit there. It fits on her head nicely, and looks great, but she really would have benefited from just one or two more extras, like a goblet to hold.

Outfit - **
This outfit looked great on the show - unfortunately, it did not translate.

The problem is not the look, but rather the choice of materials. The sculpted plastic epaulets look fantastic, and the chain that runs across the front and back is real metal.  I already mentioned the included crown, and the boot sculpt is really impressive as well. Sadly, you'll never be able to show it off on the shelf.

But the dress is made from a very stiff - I mean VERY stiff - material that feels almost brittle. Because the dress is longer in back than in front (in real life, this part would drag along behind her) you'll have to bunch it up a bit to get it to hang correctly. Because it's so stiff, the tailoring was harder to execute and the super tight fit on the arms and torso make those joints almost useless.

Fun Factor - **
With little articulation and my personal fears about the material around the elbows breaking down over time, this is not a figure I'll be posing more than once. I plan on putting her hands behind her back with as little bend at the elbows as possible, and leaving her there.

Value - ***
Here's the catch - this is still a great value. Not quite as good as it would be with a perfect costume and another extra or two, but at $180 she's still above average in this category.

Things to Watch Out For -
I'd take care trying to get any wild poses out of the arms, and keep in mind any long term damage they might suffer.

Overall - **1/2
This is a really good portrait, one of their better female releases...but the dress is a killer for me. I really wish they'd found a better alternative for the material, which could have taken this figure up another whole star. Another way to look at this is without the terrific portrait, this figure would have scored much, much lower Overall.
